In 2007, the Foundation launched its own climate defence fund for the Reef, the ZooXTM Fund. The Fund responds to growing public concern about the effects of climate change and the likelihood that in Australia, this threat will affect the very survival of our beloved Great Barrier Reef.
The ZooXTM Fund provides a way for everyone – philanthropists, foundations, companies and the general public to do something positive about climate change.
The ZooXTM Fund receives funds which the Board, on the advice of its International Scientific Advisory Committee, allocate to high priority research projects on the Reef. The Fund invests in projects which will inform how the Reef will adapt to changing conditions caused by climate change and how best to support the Reef’s resilience.
Research outcomes from ZooXTM Fund projects will feed critical information directly into management strategies for the protection and preservation of the Reef.
The Foundation has also developed the ZooX Ambassadors Program to engage the employees of ZooX patron companies in a program about coral reefs, climate change and sustainability in business and at work.
The Foundation reports on ZooX Fund projects progress twice a year. Current and previous Project Progress Reports:
